Capturing and Verifying Appliance Data with the OCR Enhancements
The OCR enhancement feature, a streamlined process, empowers users to effortlessly extract model and serial numbers from photos using Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This data is then utilized to identify the appliance's model, serial, brand, and manufacturing year, saving you time and effort.
With the new OCR feature, inspectors can easily input appliance data by selecting from a drop-down box or clicking on the highlighted text to generate the model and serial number.
Two ways to initiate the OCR feature are listed below:
- Click the OCR button to display a list of text options for selection.

Zoom in on the photo area containing the model or serial number, then click on the highlighted text. Choose either Model Number or Serial Number, which will automatically be pasted into the field.
If the image of the appliance tag is not clear or cannot be captured, Inspectify requires the data to be manually entered. In such cases, you are prompted to manually verify appliances when the submitted appliance information, including model and serial numbers, cannot determine the brand and manufacturing year. Inspectify then relies on your observation to make an informed determination.
What should I do if I can't find the appliance tag to photograph?
If you're unable to locate the appliance tag for photographing, follow these steps:
- At the top right corner of the screen, tap the three dots.
- Select the "Cannot Answer" option.
- You will be asked to select one of the following options: "not present",' "no access," or "other."
- Please make a selection from the options provided and then follow the next steps as instructed.
