Inspectify Community Guidelines for Inspectors
Whether you’re inspecting your 5th or 500th property with Inspectify, it’s important that you know what to expect and how to be successful. These guidelines have been developed to ensure every experience on our platform feels safe, professional, and positive for inspectors, customers, and residents.
As you know, many of Inspectify’s customers are purchasing homes from afar and count on a thorough inspection report to be their eyes on-site. We trust our inspectors to follow local standards of practice and best practices identified by trusted associations. However, there are some unique needs of our clients that we want to share to help build consistent, high-quality reports – and empower them to discover and care for their property investment as if it’s their own home.
These guidelines include, but are not limited to, inspectors:
- Collect clear, high-quality photos and video walkthroughs to show the entirety of the interior and exterior of the property.
- Test each required appliance in the home and collect requested photos and serial numbers.
- Identify any partial or previous repairs throughout the property.
- Note any “red flags” or “items of concern” throughout the property if not otherwise noted as a deficiency .
- Identify and photograph cosmetic defects within the report when asked to do so.
- When safe to do so, remove the electrical panel cover to identify double-tapped wires and any other concerns.
- Preferred methods of inspection for the roof system are walking or drone. If you do not have a drone or are not safely able to walk the roof, please add a limitation to the inspection report and use another inspection method, such as a pole camera, take roof-level photos with a ladder, etc.
If you encounter issues preventing the start or completion of the inspection, such as problems with access, please contact our team immediately.
Additionally, if you are unable to address specific questions or items during the inspection for any reason, include these limitations in the report to inform the client.
We recognize that, at times, these specific requests go above and beyond traditional SOPs. We appreciate your attention to detail in order to fulfill the clients’ scope of work.
At the same time, we understand that these guidelines aren’t for everyone. While we hope we can continue to work together to serve Inspectify’s nationwide client base, behaviors that violate the Master Inspection & Services Agreement (Section 4), such as refusal to answer template questions, may result in removal from our platform.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to our team with any questions you may have.
